On the 7th of July last the “Michael Healy Cup” was contested on Lough Lene. Conditions were not of the choosing but, when the weigh in was concluded it was none other than Trim/Athboy angler who came out on top,Tommy Keogan. Congratulations to Tommy.
This weekend the 5th of August, the “Larry Mulligan Cup” was contested, again the venue was Lough Lene. Over 20 anglers took to the water, again conditions not perfect but I am told there was a reasonable hatch of Green Peters. Several fish were weighed in and the top two anglers on the night were again Trim Anglers, 1st with a fish weighing in at 1.58kg (3.4lbs) Pat ‘O Toole and 2nd Paul French, with a fish weighing 1.5 kg (3.3lbs) congratulations to both of you.
The Clubs 80th Year Celebrations Postponed
Our clubs 80th year celebration BBQ and fishing competition scheduled for next weekend is postponed until further notice due to the river being in flood and bursting its banks in places. It would not be possible to hold the competition with the present water level, it would also make it dangerous with the very strong flow. Keep an eye open here for a new date.

This is the lane way in the Fly Only which the horses use to go to the gallop.
As you can see it is totally under water.
