AGM 2023 and a new Chairman

Our club’s AGM took place on Friday 3rd February in the Castle Arch Hotel and was attended by a good crowd. This year saw another change at the top table with our Chairman, Joe O’Dennell stepping down after nearly 40 years of service on the committee. Joe was Chairman for the last 23 years and has been repalced by Paul French. Paul served as Treasurer for the past 14 years and will be an excellent replacement. Denis O’Donovan was elected Treasurer to take over from Paul and the club welcomed Brian Canty onto the committee.

The club also announced details of our new club boat. This 19ft lake boat is be permanently located on Lough Lene and will be available to hire by club members during the season. More details to follow.

We also have some club branded fishing hats for sale at €10 each from any of the committee members.

Trim Athboy Angler’s Club Hat

As usual at our AGM we had the presentation for Angler of the Year, which was won by Tommy Keogan and Fish of the Year, won by Dessie Hamilton. Both men received their trophies from outgoing Chairman, Joe O’Donnell.

With the fishing season just a short few weeks away on March 1st, the Committee would like to see more members take part in the competitions, especially our junior members.

Tight lines for 2023.
